Pay Seller Directly

Both options allow buyers and sellers to connect through Build Mat Mart, but there are important differences in how payments are handled and the protections available.

For buyers and sellers who want the added security of an on-platform transaction, Build Mat Mart offers secure payments powered by Stripe.

Payment is made securely through Build Mat Mart and is not immediately paid out to the seller. The seller's payout is released once the transaction reaches the required completion stage.

This provides buyers and sellers with a clear payment and transaction record through the platform.

How Secure Payment Works:

1. Buyer Makes Payment

The buyer purchases the materials through Build Mat Mart and completes payment securely using Stripe.

Payment details are processed securely by Stripe.

2. Payment Is Confirmed

Once payment has been successfully processed, the seller can proceed with the agreed pickup or delivery arrangements knowing the buyer has completed payment.

3. Materials Are Delivered or Collected

Delivery or collection is arranged between the buyer and seller.

Buyers should inspect the materials upon delivery or collection where reasonably possible and check that the materials match the listing and what was agreed with the seller.

4. Buyer Confirms Receipt

Once the materials have been received and everything is as agreed, the buyer confirms receipt through the Build Mat Mart transaction page.

5. Seller Payout Is Released

Once the transaction reaches the required completion stage, the seller's payout is released to their connected bank account.

Some sellers may also offer buyers the option to Pay Seller Directly.

With this option, Build Mat Mart connects the buyer and seller, but payment is arranged directly between them rather than being processed through Build Mat Mart.

The buyer and seller can agree on an appropriate payment method, such as bank transfer, cash or another mutually agreed method.

Where possible, buyers and sellers should use Build Mat Mart messaging to agree on:

- The final purchase price

- Quantity and materials being purchased

- Payment method

- Payment timing

- Pickup or delivery arrangements

- Any other relevant transaction terms

Important — Direct Payment Disclaimer

Payments made directly between buyers and sellers are not processed, held or controlled by Build Mat Mart or Stripe.

Transactions completed using Pay Seller Directly do not receive the payment protections available through Build Mat Mart Secure Payment.

Build Mat Mart cannot confirm whether a direct payment has been made or received and cannot process refunds, reverse payments or recover funds relating to a direct-payment transaction.

Any payment disputes, refunds, returns or other issues relating to a direct transaction must be resolved between the buyer and seller, subject to any rights and obligations that may apply under Australian law.

Buyers should satisfy themselves as to the materials, seller and agreed transaction terms before making payment directly to a seller.

Sellers should confirm that payment has been received where applicable before releasing or dispatching materials.

We recommend keeping transaction-related communication within Build Mat Mart messaging wherever possible so both parties have a record of what has been agreed.

Sellers only need to provide payout details if they want to receive payments through Build Mat Mart Secure Payment.

Payout details are securely handled through the platform's Stripe payment integration and are required so Stripe can transfer funds from completed transactions to the seller.

Build Mat Mart Secure Payment

If there is an issue with the materials or transaction, the buyer should not confirm receipt until the issue has been discussed with the seller.

Contact the seller through Build Mat Mart messaging and attempt to resolve the issue.

Where applicable, contact Build Mat Mart Support before the transaction is completed so the issue can be reviewed in accordance with the Build Mat Mart Terms of Service.

Pay Seller Directly

For payments made directly between buyers and sellers, payment disputes, refunds and other financial matters must be resolved directly between the parties.

Build Mat Mart may assist with platform-related matters or reports concerning user conduct, but does not control funds or determine refunds for payments made outside the Build Mat Mart Secure Payment system.

Build Mat Mart gives you the flexibility to choose how you transact.

Use Build Mat Mart Secure Payment for an on-platform payment processed securely through Stripe, or choose Pay Seller Directly where both parties prefer to arrange payment themselves.

Whichever option you choose, always:

• Review listings carefully before purchasing
• Ask questions if anything is unclear
• Confirm quantities, condition and price
• Agree on pickup or delivery arrangements
• Inspect materials where reasonably possible
• Keep important communication within Build Mat Mart
